Hexies Gone Wild

The past couple of days I have been working on making hexagons.  Tiny ones, the size of a penny(1/2″) for a UFO.

This one has thirty 12 inch blocks made that have been in a container for six years.  Time to finish it.  Have it all planned out.  Center pieced blocks with a hexie flower border with some birds.  This is from 30’s reproduction fabrics.

Have another 300 plus hexies prepped for sewing.

Here’s 80 that are ready to be made into flowers.

Happy I finally figured this quilt design out and I can finish it.  Will post pixs of my progress.

  1. Can’t wait to get together and see this project! It looks very intricate and a lot of ‘fussy’ work….maybe a future challenge. Just finished the last flannel top and will look to get them ready to machine quilt. Probably won’t start that part until we get back from MN. Maybe I’ll just try to get the last 6 blocks done for the appliqué quilt. Will be nice to see that one out together too:)

  2. I can’t wait to see your blocks together. It’ll be so different from mine and Jo’s. The hexies are fun. Maybe starting with the one inch size and doing a table runner would be fun. I got the punch. Just need the Dollar store index cards to do this and fabric scraps. When do you get back?
